Linus Kwok graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Royal Academy of Dance, majored in Ballet and dance education. He was awarded with a full ballet scholarship from the Ivy Chung School of Ballet in 2004. In 2005, he received the Alumni Association Scholarship for the Arts (Dance and Drama), SKH Lui Ming Choi Secondary School.
Linus has received multiple awards and scholarships including: Silver Award in Group Dance (2006, Hong Kong Ballet Group’s 5th Young Ballet Stars Awards), the Silver Choreographer Award (2013, Stars of Canaan Dance Competition), and the HKSAR/Mainland Exchange Scholarship (2011). Linus is currently an Artistic Director of Beyond Dance Company, Senior Ballet Teacher of Ivy Chung School of Ballet and Ballet Master of “Ivy’s Ballet Company”.
Moe Mo graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Bachelor’s of Fine Arts (Hons) degree in Theatre & Film Design. She collaborated with The nonsensemakers in Travel with Mom as a Costume designer; City Contemporary Dance Company It’s my turn, Macao Conservatory in The Winter’s Tale, Perry Chui Experimental Theatre in Closer, Chivalry Creative Theatre in I love Football, Alice Theatre Laboratory in Hundred Years of Solitude, Endgame, Life of Galileo as a Set and costume designer. Her work Endgame was nominated for the best set design, costume design and make-up/styling in Drama Award 2013, as well as The Proof was nominated for the best costume design. She currently teaches “Theatre Design” in the School of Theatre of Macao Conservatory.
Ivy Chung started her professional ballet training at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) (graduated with Highest Distinction and awarded with the Overseas Scholarship by Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund). She then joined the Universal Ballet Company of Korea and received the Performer Golden Award in 1994. With the W. Rondo Theatre (Taiwan), Fanmeid Dance Company (Taiwan), Panda Dance theatre in Canada and the Hong Kong Ballet Group, she performed in productions including: Giselle, Swan Lake, Coppélia, Aladdin and The Nutcracker. She was awarded the Favourite Dancer Award thrice by the Friends of Hong Kong Ballet. After the Ontario Ballet Theatre of Canada, she joined the Hong Kong Ballet where she danced leading roles inBeauty and The Beast, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, The Last Emperor, White Snake, Romeo & Juliet, Lady of the Camellias, Mulan, Sim Chung, Cakewalk, In the School of the Dolls and many others. Ivy was one of the few chosen Hong Kong ballerinas to perform for celebrities like Lady Diana at her Buckingham Palace (1993) and Mrs. Lavender Pattern at the Hong Kong Government House (1996).
With Ivy Chung Ballet, she choreographed, directed and produced many productions including: For My Beloved (2013), The Vine (2012), The Gospel (2011), Wonderland (2009, 2010), Sichuan Earthquake (2008), Sleeping Beauty and Four Seasons (2007), Swan Lake (2006), and The Nut before the Cracker (2004).
Emily Chan graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a drama diploma and a first-class Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) Degree, majoring in Directing.
Her directed, written, and translated works include: The Wizard of Oz (Lutheran Academy), The Odd Couple, The Old Days of Temple Street, 山水又相逢 (Springtime stage), The Vagina Monologues, Butterflies are free (coadapter) & Move Over Mrs. Markham (Perry Chiu Experimental Theatre),The Lost Dragon Pearl (The Hong Kong Ocean Park), Captain Green, Web 2.0 (Theatre Noir), Happy Size Family, The Trouble Family (Director, playwright and actress, Chung Ying Theatre), Anti-drugs Cos-play Show – Ching Xiang’s choice?, Knock X down (The Hong Kong Repertory Theatre), Master Q Musical (re-run) (Director, Chung Ying Theatre), Happy Birthday, Fanny Free, In love with Anthony Chan (To-be Theatre). Emily is the Artistic director of PRIME PRODUCTION, she designs various English drama courses, directs and writes English/Chinese plays at the kindergarten, primary and secondary levels.
George Chiang was born in Ottawa, Ontario and is of Taiwanese descent. George received his theatre training at the University of Guelph during which time he was also known to hitchhike to Toronto to perform his stand-up comedy routine at Yuk Yuks and The Laugh Resort. George has been involved in the development of numerous new plays, musicals and translations including his own Dances with Gold Dust (Native Earth Performing Arts) and Urban Donnelleys (Theatre Passe Muraille) which he co-wrote. His musical Golden Lotus was the first Canadian musical ever presented at the ASCAP Foundation/Disney Theatrical Productions Musical Theatre Workshop in New York. Golden Lotus received its world premiere in Hong Kong where it won the Hecklers Award for “Best Original Work”.
George is also an actor in theatre, film & television. He has appeared in many plays and spent a season at Canada’s flagship theatre the Stratford Shakespeare Festival where he appeared in Othello and Twelfth Night. George has played leading and supporting roles in such films as McKenna Shoots For the Stars, Eloise at the Plaza, The Tracker, Plague City: SARS in Toronto, Hawk’s Vengeance, and The Stupids. George has also appeared regularly on television in such shows as Dark Matter, Mayday, XIII, Cracked, Combat Hospital, The Bridge, The Border, Puppets Who Kill, Relic Hunter, Sue Thomas F.B.Eye, Goosebumps, Forever Knight, Made In Canada, Animorphs among many others.
George Gao began studying the erhu at the age of six. After winning the first prize in the Beijing National Erhu Competition, he launched an international performance career. He toured the US, Canada, France, Germany, Denmark, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China extensively and was featured as a soloist with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Taiwan National Chinese Orchestra, National Arts Centre Symphony Orchestra, Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and I Musici etc.
George’s composing credits include: Becoming American, the Chinese Experience (co-composed with Brian Keane, Bill Moyer’s Productions/Lenon Documentary), the Oscar-winning The Blood of Yingzhou District, and the Oscar nominee The Warriors of Qiugang. He also wrote many erhu works including Capriccio for Erhu, and Erhu Capriccio No. 2 – Mongolian Fantasy.
He is currently a guest concert master for the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, and a guest professor of the China Conservatory of Music, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, National Taiwan University of Arts, Zao Zhuang University, Jiang Xi University of Science and Technology in China, Ogaki Women’s College in Japan.
Soraya Chau trained at The London School of Musical Theatre. Prior to LSMT She obtained a diploma in Musical Theatre at the Central School of Speech and Drama. Soraya is an experienced events vocalist (Hong Kong) and photographic model (Hong Kong and London).
Theatre credits in London include: Suzie Kan in Enemy of people by Just Jones theatre company, and Judy in How I got married in Dim Sum Nights by Yellow Earth theatre company. Credits whilst training: Hotel Singer in Violet at Bridewell theatre (Musical), stripper/ensemble in RSVP ASAP (Musical) and Ursula in Much Ado About Nothing. Soraya is also a qualified stage combatant of Academy of Performance Combat, UK. She has trained with fight director Philip Stafford at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. She would like to thank her teachers Verona Chard, Adrian Jeckells and Mohamed Drissi for their love and support.
Marc Ngan graduated from EXCEL, HKAPA with a BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Performing Arts (Musical Theatre) and was awarded the ‘Most Outstanding Student’ in his graduating year. His theatre credits include Good Morning Hong Kong (Worldwide Original Musical Premier), A Chorus Line (Theatre Space), Footloose (Face Productions), Harlequinade (AFTEC), Oz to the Future (EXCEL, HKAPA), MJ Relived II (EXCEL, HKAPA), Postcards from Hong Kong (The Black Sheep Family). He has also appeared in a number of TV commercials including McDonald’s,China Bank, Fortune Pharmaceutical and Hennessy. The Dean of Drama at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts quoted “Marc is clearly one outstanding star in the making”.
Samantha Yeung graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) Degree, majoring in Acting. Productions at HKAPA include Di Nu Hua (Princess Changping) (Hong Kong and Australia), Cherry Orchard Trojan Women, Autumn Execution (Hong Kong and Toronto), Roberto Zuco and Summer and Smoke. She is a recipient of scholarships including Jackie Chan Scholarship, Chung Pu Memorial Scholarship, Dean of Drama School Scholarship and HKAPA Association Scholarship. In addition to her theatre performances, Yeung has also appeared in films, music videos as well as TV commercials.
Scott Watanabe recently performed in New York as “Mr. Bumble” in the National Asian Artist Project production of Oliver! and in the Pan Asian Repertory production of No-No Boy. This past year he has participated in three development projects of new musicals, Allegiance, Behind the Painting and Guilin: A China Story. He has been featured in the Broadway, Los Angeles, Toronto and Las Vegas productions of The Phantom of the Opera. Broadway: Pacific Overtures. NY Theatre: Kismet, Candide. Regional: Allegiance, “Engineer” – Miss Saigon, “Padre” – Man of La Mancha, “Charlie Davenport” – Annie Get Your Gun, “Captain Lesgate” – Dial M for Murder, “Ito” – Mame, “Kayama” – Pacific Overtures, “Franklin Shepard” – Merrily We Roll Along, “Pasquale” – The Most Happy Fella, “Jake” – Paint Your Wagon as well as productions of The Prince and the Pauper, Evita, Chess, Oklahoma!, Zorba, The King and I, Flower Drum Song.
Billy Sy graduated from the Central School of Speech and Drama in London (MA in Advanced Theatre Practice specialized in Performing). He was awarded a Distinction for the ACTL Diploma in Musical Theatre Performance by Trinity College and received extensive training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (London), Moscow Arts Theatre School (Russia), Trinity Laban Dance School (London) and IUGTE Physical Theatre Lab (Austria). In the UK, Billy worked with The Old Vic, Royal Court Theatre, Yellow Earth Theatre, StoneCrabs Theatre, etc.In 2009, Billy returned to Hong Kong to develop his acting career. He was nominated for the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for the 23rd Hong Kong Drama Award in 2014 playing the role Posner in The History Boys with Theatre Space.
Other recent credits in Hong Kong include: A Chorus Line (Theatre Space), Avenue Q (re-run Windmill Grass Theatre), Cabaret des Annees Folles (Le French May 2013), Animal Farm – the Musical (1st run Theatre Noir), The Passage Beyond (Actors Family), Scrooge: The Musical (Hong Kong Repertory Theatre), etc. He has also created and participated in several cabaret performances at HK Fringe Club including One Night in Falsettoland in Concert, LISTEN, W.A.R., as well as site-specific solo piece at a bookstore ‘A Solitude of reading’ produced by HK Dramatists etc.
Ronan Pak Kin Yan graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with an advanced certificate in performing arts, major in musical theatre. In 2008, he completed an intensive musical training in New York (CAP21), experienced in Stage performances. Ronan participated in Mr HK in 2010, and was a contract artiste of TVB. He has also received Intermediate Certificate in Classical Ballet from Royal Academy of Dance and Advanced One Certificate in Tap Dance from Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. In 2006, he received the Katterwall Vocal Academy Scholarship for singing.
Boon Ho Sung trained at HKAPA and University of Wisconsin-Madison. His theatre credits include 1941 Girl, The Woman in Kenzo (reading), The Passage Beyond, The Invisible Man in Narrowness, How to be a Star, The Bloody Hell, The Good Person of Szechwan (Actors’ Family), Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, Not Even Wrong (Pants Production), The Mad Phoenix (Spring-Time Stage), Animal Farm (Theatre Noir), End Time Monsters (Artocrite Theater), I, Ching (Theatre Space), Messiah (We Draman), Health, Not? Harriet Chung has been a part of the creation of Golden Lotus since the beginning where she played the title role in the ASCAP/Disney Musical Theatre presentation in New York City. Harriet received a Hecklers Award nomination for “Best Actress” for her critically acclaimed performance in the Hong Kong world premiere of Golden Lotus.
Her strong dance background landed her into the world of musical theatre when she was cast in Canada’s most successful musical theatre production of The Phantom of the Opera, in Toronto. This led her to sing and dance in many more musical productions such as Cats, in Hamburg, Germany, which was the most successful theatrical show in German history. She has also performed in and choreographed for many other productions such as The King & I, The Land of Smiles, Starbright, Fiddler on Fire, Tiananmen Dreams and the Dora Award winning opera Iron Road.
Harriet was a performer and the choreographer for Gateway Theatre’s production of The King & I in Vancouver, Canada for which she received an Ovation Award nomination for Outstanding Choreography.
